چکیده

Based on the well known solution of the timeindependent radiative transfer equation along a ray and on suitable point transformations, general quadrature solutions of the monochromatic transfer equation for plane-parallel, spherically-symmetric and arbitrarily shaped 3D configurations with differential motion are derived for the observer’s and the comoving frame. The source function is assumed to be given; however, the scattering case requires only a simple iteration in addition. Since complete Lorentz transformations are used, the velocities are not restricted. It is shown that in many cases the explicit form of the transfer equation –which often is quite complicated – is not required for the determination of the specific intensities.

General Relativistic Radiative Transfer in Hot Astrophysical Plasmas: a Characteristic Approach

In this paper we present a characteristic method for solving the transfer equation in differentially moving media in a curved spacetime. The method is completely general, but its capabilities are exploited at best in presence of symmetries, when the existence of conserved quantities allows to derive analytical expressions for the photon trajectories in phase space. In spherically–symmetric, sta...

Radiative transfer in a spherical, emitting, absorbing and anisotropically scattering medium

The atmospheres of planets (including Earth) and the outer layers of stars have often been treated in radiative transfer as plane-parallel media, instead of spherical shells, which can lead to inaccuracy, e.g. limb darkening. We give an exact solution of the radiative transfer specific intensity at all points and directions in a finite spherical medium having arbitrary radial spectral distribut...

Numerical Analysis of Transient Heat Transfer in Radial Porous Moving Fin with Temperature Dependent Thermal Properties

In this article, a time dependent partial differential equation is used to model the nonlinear boundary value problem describing heat transfer through a radial porous moving fin with rectangular profile. The study is performed by applying a numerical solver in MATLAB (pdepe), which is a centered finite difference scheme. The thermal conductivity and fin surface emissivity are linearly ...

Milne-Eddington Solutions for Relativistic Plane-Parallel Flows

Radiative transfer in a relativistic plane-parallel flow, e.g., an accretion disk wind, is examined in the fully special relativistic treatment. Under the assumption of a constant flow speed, for the relativistically moving atmosphere we analytically obtain generalized Milne-Eddington solutions of radiative moment equations; the radiation energy density, the radiative flux, and the radiation pr...

Co-moving frame radiative transfer in spherical media with arbitrary velocity fields

Recently, with the advances in computational speed and availability there has been a growth in the number and resolution of fully 3-D hydrodynamical simulations. However, all of these simulations are purely hydrodynamical and there has been little attempt to include the effects of radiative transfer except in a purely phenomenological manner because the computational cost is too large even for ...
